Good dude and Sydney resident Nick Fogarty just finished this mini-documentary on SF photo masterminds Hamburger Eyes. All the footage was shot in ‘06. Watch it!
So, the reason I was in Melbourne was to show the work of this amazing fellow - Trent Whitehead. This is the studio visit pre-trip.
Some smaller paintings.
When I got there the boys were well under way building the installation. Kinsey took the trip down in the van with Trent. It was amazing to have him there.
The installed structure was this kind of run-down circus sideshow stall - it was later to house the masks.
Saw this celebrity on the street.
And saw this celebrity ‘running’ (rather than the usual ‘ruining’!) of the bar in Fitzroy North.
This is the illustrious Peter Fay outside his Sydney home.
He invited me over for some lunch and to look at his amazing collection. There was art EVERYWHERE! So much great stuff. There were rooms dedicated to storing it.
An amazing Trevelyan Clay.
Slim Barrie drawing. Slim Barrie is an amazing story. True art life. bad glare on this one - sorry.
A portrait of Peter by (I think) Lisa Reid. It was entered in the Archibald- I don’t think it hung in AGNSW but it did somewhere.
Another Trevelyan Clay. Great!
I forget this artist but really like these two.
Shaun Gladwell tiny painting. Posted for interest, make of that what you like.
This was the reason I was there. An old John Patrick McKenzie - the type is much more raw, and it’s a simple one liner. Peter has been instrumental in helping the McKenzie show we are doing at Monster Children Gallery in September.
Edward and Olivia are two of my oldest friends that I have had since I became an adult (of course my becoming an adult is up for debate, so please comment here), but really i mean, they are old friends. I lived on their floor literally and metaphorically. Amazing people. It was great to catch them for breakfast, and separately dinner and coffee while I’ve been here in Melbourne.
